About the Missing Children Screensaver

In cooperation with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) , Global Software Applications (GSA) has developed a screensaver to raise awareness of missing children cases, both old and new.

A screensaver is a computer program that covers the display screen or fills it with moving images or patterns when the computer has been idle for a designated time. Instead of using a common screensaver, put your screen's idle time towards a good cause. We recommend displaying the case information of kids that are currently missing.

The software can also be run on other public displays, such as digital signage systems.

What is the Missing Kid Saver?

The Missing Kid Saver is a screensaver and digital signage content that displays photos and case information of missing children. The case information includes their pictures, pictures of the suspected abductor, descriptions, circumstances, possible whereabouts as well as who to contact in the case of a sighting.

The idea for this screensaver is based on an event that occurred a couple of years ago in Toronto. A test was conducted in a police station, rotating all criminal cases over the monitors when the computers were idle. The idea was to remind and familiarize the officers of the case details. The experiment worked and more cases were solved.

How do I use the Missing Kid Saver?

Simply Download and run the Missing Kid Saver installer.

Why should I install the Missing Kid Saver?

Pictures work. When a child is missing, time is of the essence. The sooner a photo is seen, the better the chances are for a quick and safe recovery. NCMEC has a recovery rate of more than 96% and one in six of those featured through their photo distribution program is recovered as a direct result of someone recognizing the child from a photograph and notifying the authorities.
